It has evolved to bring the benefits of the latest computing and communication technologies into building automation and facility management. At the same time it preserves and enhances existing investments in building control systems and technology in your facilities.

The user interface in the Metasys® system extended architecture is simply a Web browser that draws its data from an automation engine on the network or an application server that is co-ordinating access to a number of automation devices. Many of the functions of the traditional workstation software now run in the automation engines where the data is collected and stored.

Automation engines and application servers are able to serve multiple users or clients to the systems, using the technology of the World Wide Web and Internet.
